Birthday Party!

Absolutely fantastic cake done by Tara! Was as tasty as it was pretty!
We had a lovely afternoon celebrating Iris's first birthday. Thanks to everyone who made the effort to come out - it was greatly appreciated. As usual, the kids ran wild as the adults tried to visit.

body parts/shake it off

Clever girl.

I can't stand Taylor Swift. At all. Annoyingly, her catchy new song has been on the radio constantly and Flora LOVES it. I noticed that Iris moves her hands to the music in the car. I tried to catch it on video without embarrassing myself by belting out the tune.

naked chef/off to school

Flora loves to be involved in supper preparation, she is keen to test things as we go and make suggestions about what to add. If she hasn't been involved, she asks during supper how I made it and seems genuinely interested. At the end of the day, when all our wheels are falling off, we sometimes turn on the tv and "watch a cook", as Flora puts it. Usually we watch Nigel Slater, I think he is her favourite.

Still loving school. The best part is she is definitely playing with the other kids now and always tells me who she had been playing with that day! I can't believe how much she has changed

bird calls

This funny noise communication has gone on for months between Flora and Iris. Flora does the "a-hoo-hoo" noise, and Iris responds back with the same one like some little bird call. This video gives you the idea although it is usually the exact mimic which she doesn't do until the end of the clip!

little dancer

Iris enjoying a little dance while her awesome big sister helps her out.

more biking

We survive the afternoons by going over the road to the parking lot and getting some fresh air. Iris purposely runs in the opposite direction and no amount of grabbing her and turning her the other way can get her to stop. She quickly turns and runs again. It makes it hard to watch both of them. I should be thankful it is almost snowy as I am risking a whip-lash injury.

First puddle

It had rained, but there was no trace of it around so we went outside with normal shoes on. These two found the one puddle in existence and had at it. Iris obviously enjoyed stomping around. Don't worry, her sweet little shoes survived the soaking.
