crayons in jars

Flora’s happiness often involves the availability of crayons. She can usually be found carrying a few around with her but now she has discovered that a jar can be very useful!
Tom’s brilliant drawing of fairies. That kid has a lot of artistic talent!

January 9th and it felt like spring!

Today was our first day back with Tom and it was 9 degrees so I thought it was the perfect day for a trip to the zoo. Gunner and Holly joined us and we carried out our usual activities of lunch (Gunner had some fries for the first time!), animals, snack and then home with knackered children. Flora seemed ecstatic to have Tom back and spent the first part of the day laughing hysterically at him. Seriously, this is a laugh that she keeps special, just for him. I will make it my goal to get it on video tomorrow. She is getting a lot more consistent with saying please for things, especially when she wants treats, and also now says “zoo”. She is so funny with her “num num” begging after treats that when I went into the kitchen to make rice and she heard the rustle of the packet she dropped the crayon she was showing her dad and quickly “num num”ed her way to the kitchen, presumably hoping for crisps, cookies or chocolate.

day out in Canmore with Aunty Holly, Uncle Ben and Gunner

We started the day with some coloring.

Seeing as Rich had to work today, Flora and I headed out to Canmore with Ben, Holly and Gunner. We spent the afternoon wandering around the shops in Canmore and then had an early supper before heading back home. The kids were good as gold however we noted that sitting in a cafe and drinking a coffee doesn’t have the same relaxing effect that it used to. Holly and Ben were busy trying to feed Gunner a bottle and I was busy making sure that Flora didn’t break the teapots that were on display. We hit the pet shop next door to buy some treats for Gordon and Flora got to pet an adoptable mutt rescued from Mexico named Cinnamon. She loves “gogs” so much it is hard to resist not taking one home...Rich would not be pleased.
Flora knows how to say thank you and now she knows how to say please.

We had a day of unexpected visitors which filled up an otherwise boring day! Mom and Ron came up for coffee and a visit, Flora played with them and then had a loooong nap which was great. Ben, Holly, Gunner and Gordon came shortly after and we went out for an early supper at the Chinese buffet.

ears, eyes and belly button

I think that Gunner can finish this post off nicely today. He has a close bond with his dad.
