O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree!

The weather did not allow us to head out to the west pasture to cut a tree and have a picnic, as it the preferred tradition. Friday night dropped down to -52 (with the windchill) making a trip ANYWHERE, let alone on an outdoor excursion, seem ridiculous. We ventured into town and shopped around to find the biggest and best tree we could.

Flora had an absolute blast decorating. As you can see, she hangs ornaments in an unusual fashion, linking a string of them together or bulking them all up, as any three year old would do! She is pantless because, as she explained to me, “Winnie the Pooh only wears a t-shirt”. Obviously.

three months later and 5 minutes to reflect

Boy oh boy, time is flying. Iris is already three months and I can barely tell where the time has gone. Oh wait, I can. She is staring at me and telling me “ugh, you’re AWFUL” but then a breath later “I love you, mommy”. Yes, indeed. It is pretty much a juggling act with two kids and I am almost certain I am neglecting one, the other, or both every hour of every day. Joking aside, the last three months have been incredibly busy but filled with a lot of amazing moments and I am glad to sit back and reflect on them because, in all honesty, I don’t think I get much time to do that. I love how excited Flora is EVERY morning to see Iris. And how she holds her hand and whispers to me “isn’t she beautiful” with the same genuine enthusiasm every time. I love that Flora’s intensity is often received with a slight look of “what the hell?!” from Iris. Flora tells me she is her best friend. That she loves her so much. Last week she asked if she could go back in my tummy because she cries too much. Iris is sweet natured and seems to have a sparkle in her eye that tells me she might be mischief. Or an angel. She sleeps well at night and I consistently get to sleep until 4-5am, or at least DID get to up until I had the cheek to write that sentence! We are getting into the groove of napping during the day so I think, touch wood, I can get some more posts done. Oh, and some chores! Thankful, thankful, thankful that I got blessed with these two girls.

ballerina

A couple of videos of sweet little Flora. She has been really into dancing and loves to be a ballerina. I love the concentration when she twirls, and the way she checks her hand positions before executing her spin.

time with Gran and Grandad!

Wow! What a chin!

Telling Dad stories.

Nice and chilly walk down by the river with the folks!
