Rich and I went to Edmonton this weekend and left Flora with Mom and Ron. Flora has a terrible cold and I am only now getting slightly back on track!
She is really getting good at saying people’s names and very clearly says “Holly” and “Grampa”. Last night in the bath I got her on a roll and she was getting them all out (Vicky “dickie” – hahah), this was prompted by Tom getting her to say “orca”...very funny.
All tuckered out after a busy weekend at the farm.

Playing at the park in the beautiful weather we are blessed with at the minute.

thief

Flora quickly picked up a clever way of stealing ice-cream from Tom.

set free in the zoo

Yet another trip to the zoo! This one was momentous for Flora because she was allowed to be free of her stroller and wander around to look at the animals. I think that trips to the zoo have become more adorable, and a lot slower paced.  She seemed to take so much more of an interest in the animals, wandering from enclosure to enclosure chatting away.
Just a quick video to mark the occasion (lots of monkey noises today!).

necklaces of underwear

Tara came out today for a walk in the sunshine, a stop at the pie shop and a trip to the fabulous junk store in town to add to our book collection. I still couldn’t bring myself to spend $6.99 on pie so I had a lovely slab of carrot cake!

Flora needs a tickle trunk. She clearly wants to dress up because she has taken to wearing my underwear around her neck, on her head or slung around her wrists. Thankfully, these underwear were taken from a pile of clean laundry on the chair. Somehow this doesn’t make it less embarrassing. For both of us.

teething

Reading while having her nappy changed. Based on her expression, it looks like there are some heavy issues going down on Sesame Street.
Off out with Dad to get some shopping and have a walk around town.

Flora has been a bit of a sour puss the last couple of days. I was so smug about her popping out a molar with no bother that karma has made the second one a bit of trouble and is making her pretty needy. Stacks upon stacks of books are getting us through at the moment. I tell her to go and get me a book (“gook”) and she toddles over, picks one out and brings it back. When it is finished I ask her to get me another one and off she goes. Rinse and Repeat. Unfortunately she has a couple of favourites that are being repeated over and over. And over. Hooray for Fish and Toes, Ears and Nose.

banana bread

Tom making Flora laugh! She had a real go at running today, trying to catch him.

The cold weather kept us indoors again today. We made banana bread and Flora wore her baking apron that she got last Christmas from Grandma and Grandpa. I turned my back for a moment and she had a handful of batter in her mouth!

Z Xcvccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc (thanks Flora)

Yesterday wasn’t as terrible as I thought it would be. I had more energy than I had expected to and Flora seemed fine after the night of upset. She had some toast when we got up/gave up on the hope of sleeping. She wouldn’t rest in her bed but did fall asleep on the floor of the living room for an hour and a half. She must have been knackered!
Flora has wanted to go outside for a couple of days now. She carries around her snowsuit or a boot or both and looks out the window. It is tragic. I am not a bad mother, what you will see after this paragraph is a weather warning from Environment Canada. This is why we are not going outside.

Wind Chill Warning

Issued at 4:16 AM MST Wednesday 18 January 2012
Summary
Wind chill values of minus 40 to 45 this morning and tonight. This is a warning that extreme wind chill conditions are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

Flora brought me her silver shoe to put on and her owl hat. Side note – her shoes are still size 6-12 months.

coc-a-doodle-doo!

I am exhausted. The flu that has been kicking around for weeks has now well and truly entered the Kennedy home. I have been up with Flora since 3:10am and poor Rich has been suffering along with her.  Flora had her shots yesterday so it could have been any of the four (yes, FOUR!) injections that have caused her upset. As far as a growth update for Flora, she is in the 50-75th percentile for weight (closer to the 50th) and in the 50-75th percentile for height (closer to the 75th). Tall and slim, just like her mum ;)
I have attached two videos. One of her goofing around with Rich and one of her attempting to coc-a-doodle-doo like a rooster.

Baergen potluck and pie!

We had one lazy day and one busy day this weekend. Pie with Mary and James, Flora dressed like a boy circa 1975. I ate a scone, not being a massive fan of pie I didn’t feel like spending $6.99+ on a slice HOWEVER Mary looked like she would take her pie to bed if she could so next time I will give in and splash out the cash....  Yeah, yeah....
We had a potluck lunch with some of the Baergens at Ben and Holly’s. Had a great visit and we are very glad that they were able to do the 6 hour roundtrip!
Flora cut her first molar. I just noticed today and it is pretty far through already. Not sure when she did it!
