Troll Falls hike

Another lovely hike, this time to Troll Falls in Kananskis. It definitely wasn't as pretty as our previous hike but we still had a nice morning out. Our picnic lunch was plagued by mosquitoes which was unfortunate and Rich spent the day with burning eyes from a mishap with the bear spray...but we made the most of a pleasant day!
Flora took a bit more coaxing to get going on this trail.

A natural reaction on Rich's face in response to Iris grabbing at anything she can get hold on, usually his chest hair...

killer bird

This is Stutter. Not sure why Flora called him that. He caused quite an uproar in the backyard last week. I looked down from Flora's room to see why all the magpies and crows were making such a fuss and sure enough, this beast was tucking into dinner. I decided to show Flora. She was fairly horrified that he was eating her second favourite animal. I thought it was a good life lesson...? She does now know that bacon comes from pigs. I asked her who told her that "Boone. But it's okay cause they are dead!". I asked her if she wanted to talk about it but she wasn't bothered, in fact she was excited that "they are inside of us!". So the circle of life continues with Stutter taking out a beloved magpie. GO STUTTER! I went right onto the back deck and he was not bothered. Flora, on the other hand, was tapping at the window and frantically motioning for me to come inside. She was worried he would eat me too.

Hike to Grassi Lakes

We had the BEST time hiking out by Canmore to Grassi Lakes. The girls we so good. Flora ran the 4k loop without complaining, Iris was thoroughly entertained by her surroundings, even pushing Rich in the back to keep going when he stopped to admire the view. We had a picnic at the top which probably blew our cover, that we didn't really belong with the "granola" crowd. Pepsi, WHITE buns, and some crisps. Oh well, next time we will wrap those buns in a Good Earth coffee shop bag, disguise the pop as some sort of liquidized quinoa energy drink and make sure we don't stand out too much. Joking, of course.

Not asleep yet, really fighting it here.

 Aaaaaalmost there.....
 And OUT!

Bless her, it was at the very bottom of the hike and she only got ten minutes before we rudely woke her and put her in the truck.
