rolling over

Iris has started to roll over! And with a lot of commitment, as in I cannot put the girl down without finding her, a moment later, on her tummy.

She is a proper little sweetheart and I think she may be even more loveable if she could find it in her heart to give me a bit more sleep at night! I am up once with her through the night to nurse, and then the sweet little early bird decides that being awake for the day around 6:30 (sometimes earlier!) is a great idea! We are working on it. Hopefully she will be sleeping through the night soon or I am afraid I will be unrecognizable for the fatigue induced puffiness that has taken over my face.

On the plus side, she smiles constantly, adores her sister, naps nicely on her own, gurgles and coos, has the hair of a homeless madwoman (or Jewish rabbi, depending on the time of day) and I love her rosy, round cheeks after a good little sleep.

sisters

Flora is really good with Iris for the most part. Lately she has grown a little tired of her though and I am now getting lines along "Mom! Iris is going to start to cry!" which has usually meant that Flora has scratched her, or that her Tigger has punched her... Flora seems to think that the uncontrolled movement in her arms and legs is directed at her so there is also a lot of "MOM! Iris won't stop kicking/pushing me!". Oh dear. Anyways, Iris is a tough cookie and didn't let out a peep even after Flora managed to give her a significant scratch on her head. Needless to say, we are having a lot of conversations at the moment and hope that this phase passes us by quickly! On the plus side, Flora dotes on her enormously, reads her stories, talks to her and keeps her happy when my hands are tied and I am so happy to have her as my little helper.

what an imagination!

Flora came to me while I was organizing the tupperware drawer and asked for two lids because she would like to go ice-skating. She came up with the brilliant idea of sliding around on the floor with the lids, a safer alternative than the real thing which I am sure she would be completely uncomfortable with!

The next day she was busy with her scissors, cutting out pieces of paper after telling us that she was going to make herself a new friend. This little piggy is the result of her hard work and ideas, she only needed a bit of help executing the idea of tucking the legs into the glasses arms.

Piggy and Tiger head to the zoo

Boone and Flora are the best of friends. They are the sweetest little pair to watch and they had a wonderful time together at the zoo. They call themselves Piggy and Tiger, named after their favorite animals. They held hands throughout the day and were fairly unconcerned whether we were keeping up with them, wandering around in their own little universe. It is a calm and perfect friendship and I am so glad that Flora has Boone as her buddy.

Baby Tiger got to see the real tigers and was fairly impressed!

Beautiful Flora

 I love these curls.

Still very much a daddy's girl!

first go at the jumper!

I guess Flora didn't get the joke!

Beautiful Iris

We are going to boggan

Hit the hill in Cochrane for some good old tobogganing, or bogganing as Flora calls it. Only occurred to me after that she does because she thinks we are going to boggan.
