visiting the farm and the new farm

We had a rather worrisome few days this week when we realized Nini had gone missing and we weren't sure where or when. A few days of searching, retracing steps and calling shops had left us with the fear that we would never see her again. Rich and I were both sick about it, feeling as though a member of the family had left. Flora was calm and collected and didn't seem as worried as we thought she would/should be however with a bit of probing her face told a totally different story, she was absolutely gutted and was obviously protecting herself. Yesterday morning I called the only other place I could think she may have been forgotten, which was the WORST place in the world she could have been - the thrift store. Amazingly, she had been left, then picked up by a staff member and placed into the "free" bin outside which is always filled with old stuffed toys for people to take home for their dogs to tear to shreds. Thankfully she hadn't been taken and was reunited with her best buddy. Flora spent the afternoon rocking her to sleep, cuddling her and being a very relieved little girl. Last night she slept better and longer than she has all week.
One of the first, if not the first, times Iris sat quietly for a book.

Grandma showing Iris the horse. She isn't too sure!

Flora's favourite place at the farm is the big picture window. She sets up her toys on the toy box and plays there all the time. I loved that the first thing that these two did when we went to the new house was go and sit at one of the "windows" to be.
